The deflection system, with a tray holding device and support for the deflection transducer, is used with the E-Val Flex system to measure the movements of a container during thermal processing.
Detailed information about the thermal process provides the opportunity to optimize the process parameters, which lead to:
The flexible containers are fixed in a Tray Holding Device (THD) inside the retort. The deflection transducer is mounted in a Sensor Holding Device (SHD). The deflection device is connected to the E-Val Flex module through the RS485 cable and the D-Flex module.
If the container is deformed or bursts during the thermal process, it may be caused by a large difference between the internal and external pressure. The pressure differential will result in a movement of the surface of the container, which is easily detected by the deflection device.
Pressure monitoring alone is not adequate enough to specify the process for a non-rigid container. In a fully flexible container, the internal container pressure equals the external retort pressure.
