Our Ellab colleagues are supporting charities that they’re passionate about – and getting fit in the process! Ellab remains a place for compassionate and driven people, and we’re proud to share their stories, support and promote the charities of their choice.
Last year we had three stories in particular that really highlighted how you can have fun, get exercise and achieve personal goals, all for a good cause.
Our tough Ellab colleagues in Germany ran the 14th Bremen Company Run along with 79 other companies. A total of 849 people attended the run, which raised almost 4000 EUR for charity.
3500 EUR of the donations were used for the maintenance and expansion of two wells in Uganda, while the remaining 500 EUR went to the sports garden in Bremen to promote youth sports.
“The original idea was for our colleagues to demonstrate some team spirit and sportsmanship. And doing some good at the same time is totally in line with the Ellab spirit, which is why we were happy to donate a fee per participant to a good cause.”

The run in Bremen was a total of 5 km, and the German team is already gearing up for more runs!
What better way to battle cancer than to climb a literal mountain? Ellab Monitoring Solutions’ Sales Order Processing Administrator, Marta Drummond, and her team scaled Snowdown, the highest mountain in Wales.
The climb was part of a charity fundraiser for Cancer Research UK, a charity Marta and the team feel deeply about, as they lost a dear friend and colleague to the disease.
At the summit, they had a well deserved BBQ, and on the way down they seized the opportunity to swim in the mountain lake.
“My colleague, Darren, carried the BBQ equipment all the way to the top and back down again, what a hero. And we had a refreshing swim in the lake to revitalize ourselves, it was cold, but oh so good!”

Marta and her team are planning more climbs in the name of the cause.
Louise Turner, Ellab UK’s Client Services Specialist, was initially going to run the Vitality London 10k for herself but decided instead to make her run matter for others. She setup a fundraising campaign to raise money and awareness about The Menopause Charity.
“Recently, a lot more of my friends had been discussing issues they had been experiencing with the menopause, and recent programs and social media accounts have highlighted how much help, doctor practices need to support women and their families. Having experienced issues myself, I decided to try and raise money and awareness for The Menopause Charity.”

The charity works tirelessly to support women by using fact-based menopause research to educate healthcare practitioners to ultimately provide suitable and sufficient care.
