TrackSense® Pro Thermal Barriers

The system consists of five sizes of Thermal barriers. The barriers are designed for use in high temperature areas between +200 and +400 °C (392 to 750 °F). The characteristic of the system is that the maximum allowed process duration is limited. 
 
The datalogger can withstand 150 °C (302 °F) whereas the high temperature sensors can go up 400 °C (750 °F). Inserting the logger into the Thermal Barrier keeps it protected from the high temperature.

The Thermal Barriers consists of a stainless steel base cylinder in which the Thermal Barrier and the inner Thermal Barriers (2 pcs.) are placed on top of each other. The cylinder has a stainless steel lid.

The diagram shows that at 300°C a 35 mm Thermal Barrier protects the data logger for 20 minutes, a TBS protects it for 30 min, a TBF flatpack protects it for 55 minutes, a 64 mm Thermal Barrier protects it for 70 minutes and a 85 mm Thermal Barrier protects it for approx. 150 minutes.
 
At 400°C the 35 mm will protect the data logger for 10 minutes, the TBS protects it for 20 min, the TBF flatpack will protect it for 40 minutes, the 64 mm for 50 minutes and the 85 mm for 110 minutes. It is important not to exceed the limits shown in the diagram. All figures and graphs are based on an initial thermal barrier temperature of 23 °C (±2 °C).

TBF 40 – Thermal Barrier

TBF 40 thermal barrier is used for applications where data loggers need to be operated in ambient temperatures between +200 and 400 °C. The thermal barrier consists of a stainless-steel rectangular flat pack with a ceramic insert and stainless-steel lid.

Prior to use, the ceramic material is saturated with distilled water and the data logger is placed inside the TBF 40 thermal barrier with only the high temperature sensor(s) exposed through the lid.

TBF 40 provides the following features and benefits:

  • A height of 40 mm - perfect for rather low gate openings
  • Provides a protection time of 55 minutes at 300 °C - ideal for when a relative short protection time is needed

Also, data loggers that are equipped with a SKY Module can be used in conjunction with the TBF 40 thermal barrier, however, a special SKY kit for thermal barriers is required.

The TBS 40 thermal barrier is used for applications where data loggers need to be operated in ambient temperatures between +200 and 400 °C. The thermal barrier consists of a stainless-steel square pack with a ceramic insert and stainless-steel lid.

Prior to use, the ceramic material is saturated with distilled water and data logger is placed inside the TBS 40 thermal barrier with only the high temperature sensor(s) exposed through the lid.

TBS 40 provides the following features and benefits:       

  • A height of 40 mm - perfect for rather low gate openings
  • Provides a protection time of 30 minutes at 300 °C - ideal for when a relative short protection time is needed

The TTB 35 thermal barrier is used for applications where data loggers need to be operated in ambient temperatures between +200 and 400 °C. It consists of a stainless-steel cylinder with a ceramic insert and stainless-steel lid.

Prior to use, the ceramic material is saturated with distilled water and the data logger is placed inside the TTB 35 thermal barrier with only the high temperature sensor(s) exposed through the lid.

TTB 35 provides the following features and benefits:

  • Diameter/height of 35 mm - perfect for very low gate openings
  • Provides a protection time of 20 minutes at 300 °C – ideal for situations where only a short protection period is required

Also, data loggers that are equipped with a SKY Module can be used in conjunction with the TTB 35 thermal barrier, however, a special SKY kit for thermal barriers is required.

The TTB 64 thermal barrier is used for applications where data loggers need to be operated in ambient temperatures between +200 and 400 °C. The thermal barrier consists of a stainless-steel cylinder with a ceramic insert and stainless-steel lid.

Prior to use, the ceramic material is saturated with distilled water and the data logger is placed inside TTB 64 with only the high temperature sensor(s) exposed through the lid.

TTB 64 provides the following features and benefits:       

  • Diameter/height of 64 mm – usable for medium to high gate openings
  • Provides a protection time of 70 minutes at 300 °C - perfect for extended protection

Also, data loggers that are equipped with a SKY Module can be used in conjunction with the TTB 64 thermal barrier, however, a special SKY kit for thermal barriers is required.

TTB 65 – Thermal Barrier

TTB 65 – Thermal Barrier

The TTB 65 thermal barrier is used for applications where data loggers need to be operated in ambient temperatures up to +170 °C. The thermal barrier consists of a PTFE cylinder with a PTFE lid.

This PTFE barrier is primarily used when ordinary thermal barriers that utilize the evaporation effect of water cannot be used. This could for example be in applications where measurements take place in a liquid or oil at high temperatures, such as frying.

The TrackSense Pro data logger is placed inside the TTB 65 thermal barrier with only the high temperature sensor exposed through the lid. Maximum protection time is 90 minutes at 170 °C.

  • Diameter/height of 85 mm – usable for high gate openings
  • Provides a protection time of 150 minutes at 300 °C - perfect for when a long protection time is required
